Apple's Diversity Lacking, White Dudes Still Rule |
Apple Diversity Update
Apple is trying too hard to make itself a more diverse company. Tim Cook, Apple CEO discloses the diversity figures in an open letter, and said that they are changing hiring practices. Apple has hired 11,000 women globally in the past year, i.e 65% more than in the previous year. In US 2700 Hispanic employees were hired - a 66% increase, and more than 2200 black employees - a 50% rise over the last year.
Male employees are still ruling with huge majority (approx 69%) in 2015, that shows a slightest movement from the past year. The US employees are standing at top with 54% white workforce. White employees are also ruling at Leadership level; 63% are white out of 72% leaders.
The same old cliché still applies: Apple has a long way to go. But at least Cook isn’t shying away from acknowledging that fact. “Some people will read this page and see our progress,” he writes in his letter. “Others will recognize how much farther we have to go. We see both.”
